Shul Schmooze? Vas ist das? It’s a hello, a connection to shul friends and what we’re all doing at home all day in this age of coronavirus, self-quarantine and seclusion. Feh! No fun. Shul Schmooze to the rescue.
We’re inviting shul members to send a note, a message, a memo, a missive, a dispatch to the Shul Schmooze column to let shul members know what’s going on in your house. Maybe share a newspaper item, a poem that touched you or art that you created. Maybe you heard a cute joke or found a recipe to try. Come and schmooze with your shul friends.
Email your contribution to Andrea ( ctigreenport@gmail.com ), and watch for the column every week…or so. Thanks to Judy Weiner for the idea, and to our office assistant, Andrea Blaga, for putting it all together. Some schmoozing from schmoozers below.

Even when apart, we can still be together. Links from Judy Weiner:

Except for Jimmy, the cat, who is not long on conversation, my house is pretty quiet. Sure, I’m getting a lot of paperwork done, but the nicest parts of my day are the many “Hello-how-are-you?” phone calls I get. Every day, family, friends, and even casual acquaintances check in on me. What a great feeling. You know, coronavirus has taught me something: Life is not about my work or my computer; it’s about people, and I need to check in with them more often. From now on, I’m going to call at least one friend, family member, neighbor, someone, anyone every single day. That’s a promise. Thanks COVID-19 for that.
