In the wake of the frightening hostage-taking situation that occurred in a in Colleyville, TX, shul in February, shul president Judith K. Weiner has convened a Security Committee, headed by Stephen Meshover and including Sara Bloom, Rabbi Capela, Elaine Goldman, Gordon Henry, and herself. The committee is reaching out to law enforcement and other civic agencies for support and guidance, and will explore various approaches to secure the shul and the parsonage. The committee is also gathering the required documents to apply for federal grant money to fund new security initiatives.

As part of the new security procedures, members planning to attend Shabbat services must arrive by 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and by 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays. The doors will be locked when services begin. Latecomers must knock on the ramp door and identify themselves before the door will be opened.
