So, Madelyn And Tom Were Talking…
…and Tom said,
“Hey, Madelyn, look at all the great stuff we have for this year’s Silent Auction.”
“I know, Tom, but I’m still not happy. Oh sure, there’s art and music and gift certificates galore, and all kinds of services, but I want this year’s auction to be the best ever. I want more.”
“We’ve got great stuff from the shops and the wineries and, of course, some lucky bidder is going to get a free Briermere pie. C’mon, cheer up. Good time coming.”
“But Tom, our members have gorgeous art and accessories at home that they’re not even using anymore. If they would donate those items to the auction…”
“Omigosh, Madelyn, you’re right. Maybe if we sent a reminder, people would declutter, make the day for some auction bidder, and help the shul’s fundraiser — all at the same time. A feel-good triple play!”
“Great idea, Tom. Remember some of the surprise finds from past years? The famous fur jacket? The boat trips? Theater and concert tickets? And how ‘bout that tour of the U.N. that included lunch with the bigwigs?
How great was that?
“And it’s so easy to do. Take a photo and email it to madelyn765@aol.com or drtombyrne@me.com with a description of the item or service being donated — ya know, like music lessons or art lessons, or catering or whatever. Easy. No sweat.”
“Gee, Tom, I wonder if anybody has, ya know, like a ton of airline miles to donate, or maybe a time-share they’re not going to use…”
“Super ideas, Madelyn. This auction is looking like a Wow! Opening party on Sunday, May 22, at 5 o’clock. Let’s get going on the reminder. Hmmm, what should we say…”
