Once again, our shul has shown its generous spirit by filling the big red barrel with toys and games and fun crafts for kids. All was delivered to CAST in time for gift-giving and fun times for kids at Christmas.
CAST clients were most grateful, said Veronica Kaliski, chair of the Tikkun Olam committee at our shul, the group that responds to those in need on behalf of the shul. Among other initiatives, the group sets up the big red barrel for collections of cans of food, personal items, school supplies and the December Holiday Toy Drive. Beneficiaries of the group’s efforts are charities in our community, including CAST, John’s Place, and others as the need becomes apparent. The group also maintains garden beds at Common Ground, and donates the produce and herbs to CAST, which offers clients a food pantry filled with a storehouse of merchandise and fresh veggies, plus whole chickens ready for roasting, purchased and donated by the shul Tikkun Olam group.
Thank you to all who contributed this year.
Members of the Tikkun Olam group are Veronica Kaliski, chair, also Madelyn Rothman, Susan Rosenstreich, and Cookie Slade.
