The Slade family happily shows what is possible given good soil, plenty of sunshine, sufficient rain, abundant love and, for those with only a hint of green on our thumbs, copious amounts of luck. Javi Slade, left, helped his grandparents, Cookie and Michael, right, harvest veggies and herbs from their own garden, which supplies CAST clients as well as the family with ample fresh produce. The Slades are members of the shul’s Tikkun Olam Initiative, which also maintains several plots at the Common Ground garden.
