In her 84-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs, who is Jewish, wrote that the Trump administration had illegally frozen more than $2.6 billion in federal funding to Harvard University over claims of antisemitism as a “smokescreen” to advance its political agenda.”

“We must fight against antisemitism, but we equally need to protect our rights, including our right to free speech, and neither goal should nor needs to be sacrificed on the altar of the other,” she wrote. “Harvard is taking steps to combat antisemitism.”
