Book Circle Delves Into Spycraft And One Woman’s Fierce Persistence

August 5th, 2021|

The Book Circle will meet Wednesday, August 18, at 1 p.m. on Zoom, to talk about Sonia Purnell’s spy story, A Woman of No Importance. The story revolves around Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite, who became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines. She began by helping the French Resistance, in the process revolutionizing modern secret warfare. Later, her guerilla campaign saved many from the Nazis.

The Book Circle meets monthly to explore works about Jews and by Jewish writers. For more information, call the shul at 631-477-0232 and leave a message for Susan Rosenstreich, coordinator of the group.

Calling All Shul Men: A Bagel-and-Lox Breakfast Is Coming Your Way

August 5th, 2021|

The Men’s Club, headed by Tom Byrne, has planned a mid-summer

breakfast meeting in Andrew Levin Park on Sunday, August 8, at 10 a.m. Plan to come and romp among the rosebushes, feast by the fig tree, partake at the picnic table, and gab among the greenery, all inspired by the ivies. As Tom puts it, “It’s a chance to get together and build community through camaraderie and common interests. As with all shul gatherings, proof of vaccination is required.

“Come all you guys, and come hungry,” Tom says. And bring your ideas, too. Tom has plans to move the Men’s Club forward after our pandemic year, and ideas about how to do it. He’d like to hear yours, too.

Please RSVP to citigreenport@gmail.com to be sure there will be plenty of bagels for big appetites.

Shul Opens Friday, August 6, 7:30 PM; Shabbat Service In Our Sanctuary

August 5th, 2021|

Advance Proof of Covid Vaccination Required

On Friday, August 6, the shul will hold its first in-person service since the synagogue suspended worship in the sanctuary in March 2020, more than a year ago. To join us for the opening Shabbat service, you must provide the shul with proof of vaccination against Covid-19 — in advance.

Here’s how to provide proof of vaccination:

  • Email a photocopy of your vaccination card or   Excelsior Pass to our office assistant, Andrea Blaga,  at ctigreenport@gmail.com/.
  • Andrea will keep a master list of congregants eligible  to attend all Shabbat services and events within our synagogue building and on synagogue property.
  • You need to provide proof of vaccination only once.
  • The shul will contact those without email.

July 29th, 2021|

There is no such thing as a free lunch.
However, there is a FREE BREAKFAST!

All members of the Tifereth Israel Men’s Club ( and for this year only, that means all men who are members of the Synagogue!), are
invited to attend a mid-summer breakfast meeting in the Garden of our Synagogue on
Sunday, August 8 at 10:00 AM.

In addition to the Bagels, Lox, Cream Cheese, and beverages, we will have a chance to get together safely outdoors and build more
of a community through camaraderie and common interests.

There will be a BRIEF meeting of the Men’s Club to present some of the programs we are developing, and to get suggestions for
interests you may like to see explored.

I hope you can join us on August 8!
Please RSVP through the Synagogue email, ctigreenport@gmail.com.
